Abstract:Professor Liu Jiaxiang, the Third National Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine, first proposed the method of “strengthening healthy qi to treat cancer,” establishing a benchmark for TCM treatment of tumors by supporting healthy qi. In clinical practice, Professor Liu is skilled in differentiating and treating colorectal cancer using paired herbs and angular herb combinations, with flexible modifications based on syndrome differentiation, achieving good clinical results. In his clinical approach, he strictly adheres to the pathogenesis, taking “supporting healthy qi and anti-cancer” as the fundamental therapeutic principle. He tonifies healthy qi gently without causing excess, eliminates pathogenic factors without damaging healthy qi, emphasizes regulating qi movement, and never neglects harmonizing the middle energizer and protecting the stomach. His aim is to restore the body’s yin-yang balance, seeking moderation in all treatments. This article summarizes the commonly used paired and angular herb combinations in Professor Liu Jiaxiang’s treatment of colorectal cancer, to share with colleagues in the field.
