Abstract:Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a common clinical condition characterized by insidious onset, low awareness, and poor prognosis. Western medicine treatments often involve long courses and significant side effects. In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), CKD is categorized as a condition of "deficiency in origin and excess in manifestation," with the fundamental pathogenesis being "deficiency of both the spleen and kidney." Among its common patterns is deficiency of both qi and yin in the spleen and kidney. Qingxin Lianzi Yin, a classic formula for supplementing qi, nourishing yin, and clearing damp-heat, has demonstrated multiple effects in modern pharmacological studies, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-fibrotic properties. Based on the "Six Perspectives" theory, Professor Ruan tailors the application of Qingxin Lianzi Yin by considering regional climate and patient constitution, addressing the pathogenesis of qi-yin deficiency accompanied by internal damp-heat. This approach has been widely and effectively applied in various types of CKD, such as chronic nephritis, IgA nephropathy, and diabetic nephropathy, with remarkable clinical outcomes.
