Objective: To sort out the venation of traditional Chinese medicine in the field of diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome in recent 20 years, and provide suggestions for the future research direction. Methods: CiteSpace software was used to analyze the characteristics of literatures on TCM treatment of IBS-D from January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021, and the authors, institutions and keywords were visually analyzed. Results: A total of 1145 Chinese literatures were included. Researchers began to pay attention to IBS-D field since 2009, and the team with Fu Yong, Tang Xudong and Shi Zhimin as the core worked closely. There were 349 research institutions, mainly represented by Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine affiliated to Capital Medical University, Tangshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and 553 keywords were obtained, forming 23 keyword cluster tags. Conclusion: Based on the discovery of atlas, the research in the field of TCM treating IBS-D in recent 20 years mainly focuses on three aspects: syndrome differentiation and treatment, and the clinical efficacy and mechanism of TCM treating IBS-D. Cross-regional and interdisciplinary cooperation and exchanges should be actively carried out, and both basic research and clinical research should be paid equal attention to. The future research trend of IBS-D is mainly on intestinal flora.
