AbstractObjective: To study theImmunomodulation of Xiaofeng Xuanqiao decoction in Guinea Pig with Allergic Rhinitis．Methods: Forty guinea pigs were randomized into 4 groups, normal control group, allergic rhinitis (AR) group, Xiaofeng Xuanqiao decoction group, and loratadine group．Allergic rhinitis models of guinea pigs weremade. After drug intervention, the levels of cytokines, immunoglobulin E (IGE) and histamine (HIE) in the serum of guinea pigs in each group were determined by ELISA methods．Results: The expression levels ofIgE、HIE、NF-κB、IL-4、IL-6、IL-17 significantly increased (P < 0.01). Xiaofeng Xuanqiao decoction can reduce the above cytokine levels after treatment，especially the levels of serum IgE and IL-4 were significantly lower than those in loratadine group (P < 0.01).The serum levels of IFN-γ、IL-12 in Xiaofeng Xuanqiao decoction group significantly increased(P < 0.01),while the two cytokines decreased significantly after infection (P < 0.01). Conclusion: The therapeutic mechanism of Xiaofeng Xuanqiao decoction on allergic rhinitis is decreasing the level of IL-4、IL-6 and increasing the level of IFN-γ、IL-12．It inhibits NF- κ B, IL-17 expression,reduces IgE and histamine release. It can have the effect of immune regulationin Allergic Rhinitis Guinea Pig.
