Many kinds of pathogenic factors can cause the obstruction of Qi and blood, Zangfu-Organs and meridians and collaterals to diseases. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) often uses the method of "Tong Fa" to treat these diseases. "Tong Fa", as an important treatment method, is not listed in Eight Methods of TCM, but the theory stems from the "Yellow Emperors Internal Classic ", and many traditional Chinese doctors in history have expounded it. As for clinical treatment, "Tong Fa" can not be just understood in the narrow sense of "Purgative Therapy".Its connotation should also include the following aspects: replenishing Qi and blood, coordinating Zangfu-Organs relationship, and solving the shortage problem of material basis of "The Generating Source"; eliminating pathogenic factors, dredging meridians and collaterals, activating Qi and blood, distributing Body Fluid to unblock the clogged roads of operation in man"s body. On the basis of "Yellow Emperors Internal Classic" and related works, It is believed that "Tong Fa", guided by the rule of Strengthening Anti-Pathogenic Qi to eliminate pathogenic factors, can include the methods of "Tong Ying Wei ", " Tong Zangfu-Organs ", "Tong Meridians and Collaterals" and so on.
